When I first listened to one of Caleb's the first thing i picked up one was the poetic sound to his rhymes. Rap has turned into beats filled with meaningless verses placed in between and sold as music to people, with Caleb I can safely there is a deeper meaning to the words spoken in his music and his potential to be a great rapper in Africa is on another level.

Biography
Caleb Josue Kalz Kalonji (born August 15, 1993), better known by his stage name Caleb Kalz, is a south african hip hop recording artist and songwriter from Johannesburg, South africa. Kalz first received recognition in 2011, following the release of his debut mixtape Freshman year. Shortly after the release of Freshman year, Kalz and fellow band members made contact with Highveld stereo radio personality and dj Vin Deysel and together they released a hit single on the radio called Whatever. In 2012 the band broke up after Kalz and all the lead singers and production team all graduated from high school. During this time he went to college at Boise state university in Idaho (USA) for a year and he dropped out after his freshman year, how ironic.
On November 17 2014 Kalz came back to Johannesburg and released a four track Solo rap mixtape called Moments as a build up to his up and coming Debut Solo African King EP in 2015 with his childhood friend and producer BubeleBooi.
Early Life
Caleb was born in the hospital of Johannesburg in Johannesburg South Africa on august 15 1993. Caleb started rapping at the age of 12, becoming serious about it at the age of 15. In 2010 he hooked up with childhood friends Joshua Gossman and producer BubeleBooito create the hip hop/pop band called Prototype which was later changed to Brave Estate in 2013 before they officially split up. One of the events that continuously drive his ambition to become one of the greats in the industry was the annual talent show Fight Night. In 2010 Caleb and the band auditioned for their first talent show competition which took place over the space of a month of auditioning and competing against other young artists, Caleb’s band made it to second place, the loss proved to be enough motivation, as they went on to release their debut mixtape Freshman year the following year and right after that release, David Mutendji joined the band to make it 2 male vocalist a rapper and a full band. The band split in 2013 and in the same year Kalz created the entity that is ARTT Gang; a handful of exceptionally talented young solo artists bringing their art together to revolutionize the music culture in south Africa.
Currently an independent recording artist Caleb Kalz is releasing his debut Solo EP early in April 2015 in hopes to finally stand out as a south African up and coming star.
Musical Career
2010 – 2011 Debut mixtape : ”Freshman Year”
In 2011 Caleb Kalz and his band (Prototype/Brave Estate) released their debut mixtape “Freshman year” and had a special launch concert to celebrate their first ever music project coming to life. The mixtape is a mixture of rap rock and pop, it was relatively well received in Johannesburg, as it got them shows throughout that year.
2011 – 2012: The Demo
In 2012 after the dissatisfaction from the results they got from the mixtape Caleb Kalz, Bubelebooi and DavideMutendji (the band) decided to create a special 4 track demo reserved only for radio with the songs (1-Where we started. 2- Don’t say. 3- Home and 4- Midnight) This proved to be a success as they managed to sell the rights to one of the songs to a Swedish record company, the song Home, which was one of their most successful party anthems. From 2012 onward their live set list consisted mostly of this demo and a few live covers.
2012 – 2013: Radio
In 2013 they released a single which aired on 94.7 Highveld stereo radio station but the reception wasn’t solid enough because it was a dub step/rap which they claim was “too a head of its time”. But later that year they released a hit single with radio personality and Dj Vin Deysel. The song “Whatever” went on to air on the radio station for a few months before it got cut due to contract negotiations regarding ownership of the song. After the short-lived hype from their hit single, the band drifted apart and Caleb moved to the United States.
2014 – 2015 : Debut Solo mixtape – “Black Poetry”
Upon returning to Johannesburg from Boise Idaho, Caleb Kalz now a mature young artist released his first ever Solo mixtape with only 4 songs called “Moments”, moments was just an online mixtape released in anticipation for his first solo mixtape called “Black Poetry”.
